(Apparently Cameron's transformation was too fast, which pretty much screwed up a few things. I'd planned for Cameron to complete his transformation in this chapter, but since it goes too fast, I'll cut out a bit of the transformation sequence in this chapter. So...yeah! Rules are rules.)

“This...this is my new home?” I asked Dan as he led me around the base. The Garchomp smiled. “You bet it is buddy!” he said. “This place is the Norfolk Pokeuman Base, and this is only one of the thousands of Pokeuman bases in the world. However, you’re lucky enough to be zoned for one of the greatest bases on the east coast! It’s not as great as the Washington D.C, Long Island, or Atlanta bases, but it’s been voted the fourth best base on the east coast!”

“Seriously?” I asked. “That’s impressive.”

“I’m glad you think so!” Dan said. “Now, we need to get you registered into the base. Follow me please.” Dan led me into a nearby building with a large sign that read “Norfolk PRT Base HQ” above the door.

“PRT?” I asked.

“It stands for ‘Pokemon Rescue Troop,’” Dan said. “They go out and risk their lives each day to save a transforming human and bring them back to their base. Our original captain sure was something though! She was so strong that when the previous base leader died, she took his place. I always knew that she would do great. After all, she’s one of the only female Braviary in the world!”

I didn’t bother asking what a Braviary was as Dan lead me into the building. The walls on the inside were bright blue in color and decorated in pictures of groups of Pokeumans, so I presumed they were some of the PRT teams. Dan led me to another door and opened it, holding it for me as I walked in the room.

The room was filled with desks, and on each desk was a computer that resembled the ones you'd find in a computer lab at a library or school. Each screen had a blue screen with the white words “Norfolk Pokeuman Base Registration”. Below the words were boxes where you had to type things in.

“I’m going to need you to fill out that stuff please Cameron,” Dan said. “It’s base policy that every new Pokeuman is registered into the base’s computer system.” I nodded and walked over to the desk closest to me and pulled back the chair so I could sit down in it. I put my hands on the keyboard, and I got a good look at them once again. Since looking at them outside, my thumbs and pinkies had completely disappeared, leaving me with only my pointer, middle, and ring fingers, all which were covered in black fur. I sat in my chair and just stared at my hands. Dan saw that something was wrong and looked over at my hands before patting me on my back.

“Looks like your paws have fully grown in!” he said. “You might want to check out your feet too. If your hands have changed this much, your feet must not be far behind.

I nodded and bent down, untying my shoes and taking them off before taking off my socks. Sure enough, Dan was right. My feet looked the same thing as my hands: paws with three digits covered in black fur. I looked on the bottoms of my feet and ran my hands along them. The heels and the area below my toes had become smooth pads, much like a canine’s. I set my paws back on the ground, and a slight chill went through my paws as they touched the cold floor.

I took my focus off my new paws and brought them back to the computer. I put my right paw on the mouse and clicked on the box.

Name: Cameron Decker
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Date of Birth: September 22, 1997
Species:

I stopped at the last box. “Um...Dan?” I asked. “What species am I?”

Dan put his claws on his chin and looked at me. “It’s difficult to say,” he said. “Let me get something real fast.” Dan ran out of the room and came back with a large book. The side of it read “Canine Pokemon”. He pressed the book into my chest, and I took it from him. “This book contains all of the known canine Pokemon,” he said. “Judging by your paws, you look like you’re becoming a bipedal canine Pokemon, which drastically narrows down your choices, as there aren’t many out there. If you want to, you can go into the bathroom.” Dan pointed to a nearby door. I nodded and walked over to the door, opening it, turning on the lights, and locking the door behind me.

I opened the book and put it down on the counter in the bathroom. “Alright,” I said to myself. “What Pokemon am I becoming?” It was only after I said that that I realized the tightness in my pants around my waist and legs. It felt like my pants were struggling to contain my legs. Hesitantly, I pulled down my pants and underwear at the same time, only to find that a large mass of red fur had begun to cover my legs. They were almost like a pair of pants. The fur slightly curved around my waist, making it look like I was wearing some sort of skirt. I looked in the mirror and expected to see some form of happiness on my face.

But all I saw was sadness.

As amazing as this was, I didn’t want this. I never asked to become a Pokemon. I never asked to be taken from my family. The last words that my mother said to me still echoed in my mind.

"You’re not my son. I would never live with one of you FREAKS!”

Did she really mean those words? Did she really hate me now? I took a look at my new form, and I felt tears beginning to well up in my eyes. She was right. I am a freak. I quickly wiped the tears out of my eyes. I couldn’t let anyone see my disappointment. At least, not yet.

I picked the book back up and flipped through the pages until I landed on a page with a picture of a Pokemon that was almost like me. It was a picture of a fox like creature with a large bushy tail that had a twig sticking out of it. Above the image was the word "Braixen". I looked at my fur "skirt" and compared it to the image.

Nothing alike. Two completely different colors. I turned the page, and I was greeted to a picture of another fox like Pokémon that stood on two legs, but this one was much larger than Braixen.

"Must be its evolution," I though. The facial features looked the same, but it's fur slightly different, and it's skirt had grown out into a long robe of fur. Above the image was the word “Delphox” and below that was the words “Fire/Psychic”.

I closed the book and tucked it under my arm as I unlocked the door and walked out of the bathroom, turning the lights off behind me. I saw Dan sitting in a chair in the desk next to mine. He looked up at me.

“Find anything?" he asked.

“Yep,” I said. “I’m becoming a Delphox.” I sat back down in my chair and typed the word “Delphox” in the final box. Dan then leaned over and took the mouse from me and hit the “Send” button.

“There you go my friend!” he said. “You’re registered! Now, you're not fully transformed, so I need to take you to the hospital. There, a doctor will monitor you until you're fully transformed."

Dan led me out of the room and the building. He began leading me across the base to one of the large buildings that I’d seen earlier, but not the really large one. I was looking around the base in awe, not looking where I was going, when I bumped into someone and fell backwards onto by tail. I yelped as I my body weight was pressed onto my tail. I looked up at the Pokeuman that bumped into me. In front of me was a bipedal, gray-brown, fox-like Pokémon with crimson and black accents. It had a pointed snout and ears with red insides. It also had some red rimming its eyes and mouth. It had a large, red mane with black tips, which somewhat resembled a ponytail, as a teal bangle down its length separated a mass of the mane from the lower portion, and a black ruff on its upper body, pointed at the shoulders from which its arms extend. Its upper arms were thin, whereas its lower arms, while still slim, are bulkier. It’s arms have spiky extensions of fur at the elbows, and it had red claws on its hands and feet. However, the scariest part about this Pokeuman was it’s eyes, which were red-rimmed with light blue irises that seemed to pierce right through my very being.

“E-Excuse…me….” I stuttered. The black fox just smiled a toothy smile that made me shudder.

“No, it was my fault…Cameron.” Before I could say anything, the creature sprinted off, and I lost sight of it in the sea of Pokemon. Just then, I felt a pair of claws on my shoulders help me up.

“You okay?” Dan asked.

“Ye-yeah…” I said, still slightly shaken up. “H-he...knew m-my...n-n-name…”

Dan scanned the crowd, presumably looking for the Pokeuman that bumped into me. “Sorry buddy,” he said. “He’s gone.” I scanned the crowd myself, hoping to see the Pokeuman, but I didn’t see him.

“What...Who...was that?”

“That was a Zoroark. Crafty creatures, those Zoroark. They use their illusion powers to disguise themselves as ANYTHING: person, animal, or Pokeuman.”

“So he could be disguised as anyone right now?”

“I’m afraid so,” Dan said. “But let’s not think about that now. I’m sure you’ll be fine.” I wanted to believe the Garchomp, but I knew in my heart that it wouldn’t be fine at all.

Dan lead me through the crowd until we stopped in front of a large marble building. Over the large glass doors was a large red cross. Anyone could tell that this was the hospital. Standing in front of the door was a Wigglytuff. Honestly, I wasn't surprised that they worked at the hospital.

"Morning Dan!" she said, smiling. "Got a new kid today, have we?"

"I do Nurse Hope," Dan said. "This is Cameron. He's going to become a Delphox. I trust you'll take good care of him!"

"I will Dan," she said. The Wigglytuff turned and began to head inside before turning and gesturing for me to follow.

"I'll be there in a second!" I said. I turned to Dan and smiled. "Thank you for your help."

"It's no problem kid!" he said, smiling. "You'll be fine. Nurse Hope is one of the best nurses around. She'll take good care of you! I'll see you around!" With that, Dan walked off and disappeared into the crowd. I turned and faced Nurse Hope and followed her into the building.

As much fun as becoming a Pokémon sounds, I still couldn’t help but feel sad at the fact that I’d never see my family again.

I’d give anything not to be a Pokemon and just be a regular human.
Had to fix something that DEFINITELY didn't screw up my plans for chapter 3.
